If you enjoyed South Lake Tahoe, you'll enjoy the northern part of the lake even more! We go quite often to the Squaw Valley / Truckee area and it's wonderful. I've never been in the winter, but in the summer you can raft on the Truckee River, hike, horseback ride, play miniature golf, etc. It's great fun to ride the cable car to the Olympic Village above Squaw Valley and iceskate outside, with the lake and valley below you. Hiking is fun up there to--you can sit at the summit of the mountain! Be sure to go back when you get a chance.

Go cross country skiing in Tahoe, it is peaceful even at the most crowded time and yet a world unto itself. Views from the top on a sunny, white winters day down to the lake are stunning. Thanks for the memories.

I haven't been to Lake Tahoe since I was a kid & I have very vauge memories of the lake, the snow & of hiking. Thanks for bringing them back!

No, I haven't been there! We've done lots of exploring along the coast, but we have yet to poke around much in the mountains. Clearly, Donner Lake IS calling me! :)

As someone whose heart has never left the Sierra Nevadas, although it has been years since I lived in the Golden State, it was great to catch a recent glimpse of the lake. If you haven't been north to Truckee and Donner Lake (where my family still owns a place), it is calling you.

Hey there. This feed was in my reader this morning, and I can't remember where I know you from. I live right along Hwy. 50 in Pollock Pines. We're moving to Reno/Sparks in a few months, so have been back and forth past Lake Tahoe many times over the last six months. It sure is beautiful, isn't it?? :)

Now, where the heck do I know you from? LOL
